Week 8 Term 4

The past week was one of huge excitement. We finally had our market day which was a huge success. We achieved our goal of selling all our products. Mrs Richards was very proud of the children. She thinks they made some great products of high quality indeed.
Another huge event happened on the same day as market day. A new interactive white board was installed. It is totally awesome and we are having great fun learning just what we can do on it.

Kia ora. The weeks are flying by so fast.
Room 8 have been very busy doing end of year testing. This has been encouraging because so many children have made good progress. That's what we all want isn't it? After our Maths Progress and Achievement I asked for feedback on what children found hard. This feedback was great because it helps me to have a clear idea of what the children want to concentrate on in these final weeks.
This will also help me with programme planning for next year.

PreP production is nearing completion as we look forward to the big market next week. We have had a lot of fun and learnt quite a few new skills including cooperating with each other. Its been great how the different groups have met up with production challenges and found ways to overcome these.

The term is flying. We have athletics coming up on Tuesday so have been out most days enjoying learning athletic skills.
We have also been very busy setting up our Prep Enterprises. We are just at the stage of purchasing the materials to make our different market goods. Our Room are making cool toy bats, amazing masks, cute little soft toy bunny heads, wooden planes and aliens. .

Welcome to the new term. We are excitedly making preparations for the School Prep Market in Week 7. We will learn heaps from this study, including, running a business, managing a budget, making a profit and working cooperatively. We have already organised our different companies. We are currently making plans, reflecting on the good points and possible bad points of our products and making up shopping lists to begin production. Abbey's group are thinking of making this cool toy but are trying to problem solve how they can make enough to make a profit. There is a lot of sewing.
What do you think? Would you buy one?

The Evil Trickster

Once upon a time there was an evil clown who lived in the toy shop. He is as evil as Darth Vador. He is so evil that once he tried to take over the world but it didn't work. The evil clown thought he was the boss and intelligent.
He looked ugly and evil. He wore a stripy top, blue and black pants with gold bells at the bottom and a rainbow wig.
The clown was such a trickster too. He tried to be the boss of all the toys.

In reading we are trying to use our green thinking hat to solve the Billy Goat's troll problem.
Flynn Parker has come up with this solution.
The Flying Basket Solution
The billy goats climb up the ladder and jump into the basket. They pull the rope until they are on the other side and climb down the ladder. Thats how they keep safe from the big scary troll.

Character description.

We are learning to write character descriptions using lots of adjectives and a simile.
Our stories are about the show.
Toy Robot
By Quinn Monk
I am a metal white and brown shiny robot. I have a cardboard suit with shiny buttons and cool facepaint. I have a helmet. I am good at laughing and bending. I walk like an old man.

Dancing Soldier
By Matthew Sorenson
Once there was a great toy dancing soldier who came alive in the Toymaker shop on the Bluestone Stage. He was colourful. He wore light brown, dark brown, dark green, grey and black camo clothes. He wore long pants and a camo top with long sleeves. He had black and green striped face paint.
He did great dancing, punching moves and marching.

Dancers ready for the show.

Tonight was our final show night. Room 8 children were amazing. Everyone performed with excellence and made us proud. What a great show. Here are some of our dancers. Aren't they lovely.
