Wild Thing

Room 8 have been writing character descriptions of imaginary monsters.

We got our ideas from the story "Wild Things" by Maurice Sendak

Felix Pans

By Mitchell Cummings

My wild thing is called Felix Pans.

He has no hair. Felix Pans has two eyes. . He's got a nose that is joined to his mouth, that has whiskers. Felix Pans has sharp horns. (I would not want to touch that.) He sounds like a grizzly bear that screams a lot. He smells like he's been in a lake and jungle which he has, because he lives there.

Felix Pans likes going to Fredreck's and Stiner's party on Monday, Friday and Sunday. Felix Pans just loves that pizza stew and vomit crumble, and if he gets there in the morning he will get weetbix with blood. Disgusting! Felix Pans likes going out with Bloody Guy.

Well there you go, that's Felix Pans.

My Wild Thing

By Bradley Milliken

How cool! Room 8 made some wild things. My one is called Blue Bloody Dum Dum. It has five horns, two feet, two eyes, two funny arms and lots of teeth. It has ripped clothes. He is also dumb. Also he sleeps on people's roofs. In the morning people go 'AHHHHHHHHHHH! because they get a big fright from the wild thing.

So be aware of the scary wild dumb thing and I hope it doesn't go on your roof.

The Piano

After viewing an animated video from You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZJDNSp1QJA) Mackenzie Kerslake wrote this thoughtful reflection:

In the olden days there was an old man.

(I don’t know his name.) He was playing a piano. The man’s wife died. (That was very sad!) In the war the old man’s friend died. It reminds me of my great granny who died. I think the man was trying to tell people that sad things happen in life. I reckon the man was feeling scared because he might die too and he might be feeling miserable because he misses his wife, and his friend. He also might be feeling scared because he doesn’t have his wife to help him with things that are important and he can’t use his friend anymore to help him as well.

Ice Science

The Balloon Experiment

We are learning to gather data just like real scientists.

To do this we have to used our senses to observe (look at) and touch, very carefully to see what happens to our ice balloons
